  • we know now!

    we finally have an answer!!!!

remember i was talking a while back on how Jonathan kept getting a high fever? Well, guess what we finally got fed up with it.Since October of last year,he has ran a fever every 2 weeks of 105 degrees that lasts for 5 days. we said today ENOUGH!!!

so we took him to a different ER today while he had the fever, intentionally not giving him meds at that point, just til we got him there. we explained to them how he has been through so many tests over the last 4 months, we started from the beginning..(very good doctor) we told him about the numerous blood tests, he went to a GI specialist…was tested for rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and a whole shabang of autoimmune things the past few months..all of them coming back normal.I have not been talking about it because i was trying not to dwell on it.(i think hoping every time he had the fever it would be the last one and he would be better.)

WELL……………after a ton more tests today, get this, he is 3 and he has MONO!!!!

we are in the process now of getting set up with a JIDS ( juvenile infectious disease specialist) in Syracuse University Hospital.

    Finally!!!!!!!!! an answer!!

heres some pictures from today….a long day in the ER

  • A friend of mine’s son is 3 and was just diagnosed with MONO also. she was not sent to a specialist or anything but told it has to run it’s course.  Please keep updating…if you find out something she might need to know.  :)   At least now you know.   I never knew till last week when her son was diagnosed that it was something younger kids could get!

  • @juejee - little ones can get it it is just so rare that doctors don’t look for it. thats why he went soooo long ! crazy huh? i wonder what we will do now on thursday..they do have a ti-line over the phone at our hall…i have NEVER once missed the memorial of Jesus death in my life. Our assembly is also this weekend! we will talk to the specialist tomorrow to see just how risky it is having him around others and also see if we need to have all the kids tested for it.(i don’t want to get our dear friends sick!)

  • @cartla2 - I have heard in the past it is very contagios but you never know sometimes it’s not as bad as people make it out to be.  i missed our special assembly day yesterday.  I know there was just no way I would make it through.  I went to the store today and used an electric cart and just walking to the car started contracting again… ugh…. i have  a website where I can download some talks from other special days.  I know it won’t be the same ppl but the information is all from Jehovah.  :)

  • Aw!  I’m so sorry to hear about him having Mono, but I’m glad you have an answer.  That must be a relief.  I’ve had mono in the past and everytime I have had a cold since then, I get a touch of minor mono symptoms.  I hope that Jonathan doesn’t have long lasting side effects from this illness.  Praying you through. Elisha
