i haven’t posted in a while,things have been crazy busy here…(and I have been sick again.)
it started with a runny nose,then over night it hit me real hard. i woke up feeling really sore on one side of my chest. i was curled up in bed all day yesterday shaking…i got up just long enough to take a hot shower.then was back to shaking again.
i went to see my doctor today and turns out i had a real bad case of mastitis..(not sure if thats how you spell it.)
i have only had it one other time with Jonathan and i thought it was because he wasn’t latching on right, which caused the infection.
(if you have had it,you can relate…if you have not had it,there really is no way to describe how it makes you feel…maybe the best to describe it is it’s like the flu,with body aches and fever, with chills, it literally knocks you out, not to mention the excruciating pain,like a hot knife stabbing you and twisting or something like that..OUCH!)
i really didn’t think i would have had this with Alaina,she nurses so well (as a matter of fact,we have been trying to get her to take a bottle just so we can have a night out to ourselves.she won’t have anything to do with it!) i do try to offer it at least once a day,but still she struggles with it.
anyhow,so the doctor gave me this strong antibiotic and hopefully within the next day or two,i will be up and functioning again.

I’m glad you’re feeling better! You look so happy in that last picture!
Hiiiii, I’m back in the real world, heheI started getting mastitis a couple days ago and I realized it’s cause I wore my non-breastfeeding underwire bra for 2 days in a row and the wire was pushing against the side of my breast and probably plugging ducts. I noticed the red quadrant-like mark on my breast, my doc had shown me what to look for if I started getting pain. So I went braless around the house for the last 2 days and took a hot shower and made sure to massage the area really well at every feed. Probably would have hlepd to do more warm compresses.Yours sounds like it was more advanced. Ducts were probably plugged too long and led to infection. I had chills a couple of times, but it really didn’t get as bad as you. I hope you feel better soon. Mine’s all better now.Cassandra
@maboopioneer - wow,i am glad yours didn’t get that bad..mostly because your baby is so little..it would have wiped you out completely!..the doctor said too (like you) it could have started from a clogged duct and if i start to feel uncomfortable again,to nurse as much as i can on the side that hurts.glad you are feeling better and welcome back !!
@ElishaDecker - Thanks!
Oh my gosh i had never had mastitis until my 9th baby!!!! It knocked me out too and it was all because of what one commenter just said….I wore a regular bra that was a bit too tight!!!! Anyway…..yikes….I hope you feel 100% now!
